The Taxi Drivers in Your Neighbourhood
"Look, those taxis are trying to drag each other!" "It's quite scary to be honest. Like a Grand Prix of taxis."

Hamilton Island
To think on this day a week ago I was here. Definite withdrawl symptoms. Who would have thought that it would take this long to recover? In other news, I have finally installed wordpress and given it an ugly layout. Stay tuned for site updates. My dad always says wake up early and your life will be better. It's true, I know, because only a couple of Saturdays back we woke up, did the Carmen DVD, went for a swim, went to the Market, had breakfast, bought meat and vegetables, and it was only 2pm when we got home. Granted that we had to have a nap after, but still I have probably not achieved that much in the entire past year gone. It was great. Yet still, I am finding it difficult to give up my sleep. Maybe because my dreams are so awe-inspiring. Last night, I got fined for leaving my nephews in the car while I went to visit my cousin and had a fight with the officer. Last night, Tom was also singing in a choir. A couple of nights ago, my cousin faked his death and had surgery to turn him into an eggplant so he could flee the country (really, how is he supposed to flee when he has no arms and legs?). I was pretty pissed off after the funeral when I found out he was still alive. Not to mention flying hermit crabs. I am going to the Market.

Mr. Move
So we moved. I tell you, it's lucky that we embrace spontaneity with open arms because apparently moving is the second most stressful thing in our lives, after losing a loved one. I'd believe it, but we came out okay in the end. Except for one thing. Last time, we did the moving ourselves. It was not fun. Based on that experience, and the fact that there were lifts involved, we decided to hire removalists this time. I chose Mr. Move, Melbourne, and I will admit it was mostly because of the Mr. Men metaphor. I liked the blue and brown and even though their website is comprised of one very large graphic and one very large "email us" red comic sans link, I decided to give them a go. I would like to say two things: 1. Insured* is right. 2. I would not trust them with my antiques or artwork. Halfway through getting the things out of the old house, they returned with some "bad news". "The washing machine has fallen down the stairs I'm afraid." Excellent. It gets better, because the washing machine has not only fallen off the stairs, it is pretty much a write off. And the best part is - Insured* means they are not covered for accidents that happen off the truck. So, we don't get money for a new washing machine. Now, I think I understand the insurance policy. They are professional removalists, right? Of course the only accidents that would happen would be on the truck, I mean, why would something happen before or after the move. They know how to handle these things, it's their job, right? And fuck, if I wanted to drop my washing machine I would have moved myself. So Mr. Move gave us our move for free, and offered to buy us a used washing machine, which we politely (and seethingly) declined. Thanks Mr. Bump! We ended up getting a new washing machine, which, although infinitely cooler than the last one, left us out of pocket about $100 or so dollars. We had to wash at least six loads of laundry to catch up. The moral of the story is, if a Mr. Man comes to life, do not trust him. Especially if it is two-toned. They are only cute in books. (Mr. Move, Melbourne, removalists, reviews, keywords, motherfuckers)

Hi. We have wireless broadband. By wireless, I mean we don't have a phone line, and we are not getting one. It is the fast. and the cool. Thank you, come again.

Hello Docklands
I am having trouble sleeping. A week and a half ago, we were bored. We decided to look up city apartments on the internet. We saw a few nice ones that were managed by the same guy. We'll call him, we said. And we'll go and see what's around later this week, just to see what's around. He did not pick up his phone, so Gully left a message. Ten minutes later, our call was returned we made arrangements to see a few places on Monday. We were never actually intending on applying for any, because our lease here does not expire until the end of January. We were just planning on looking, for something to do. Then he showed us the first one - a brand new two bedroom plus study on the podium level of a new block. The same level as the pool. We applied. On Monday, the agency rang to tell us that we had the apartment. We are moving next Thursday. It will be a good change, I know. I am tremendously excited about living in the city (and did I mention a pool?), but it is still a change and it is making me nervous. I think, in many respects, it is good that we are so random because everything is so whirlwind it gives me a lot less time to be nervous. But we are moving next week! The gravity of the situation did not hit me until I told Gonz. "Oh yeah, we're moving next week. To Docklands.""Are you serious?" "Yes." "Why?" "We got bored." "Why didn't you take out a movie instead?"

Out there, Someone was going Commando
Much disappointed after a fruitless search for Furby, we stopped at Westco (Jeans West, for those of you playing in New Zealand) so I could try on a skirt. A "hoochie mama" skirt, as Gully called it. It was an okay skirt, I may go back to get it. What was not okay was the pair of dirty black underwear that was lying on the fitting room floor. It was simultaneously gross and perplexing. First of all, why would you leave your underwear behind? Do you just forget to put it on after you try on some clothes? And why would you need to take your underwear off in a Westco changing room in the first place? I quickly put the skirt away and resumed regular shopping. Needless to say, if I buy anything from Westco in the future, I will be washing it before I wear it. We did find a Furby in the end. There were four lying face down in Toys R Us. I'm having some trouble speaking Furbish, otherwise it is pretty cute.

Black is the new Blonde
I dyed my hair. Contrary to popular belief, I dyed it blue black and not blonde. Hah. Imagine what I would look like with blonde hair - a freak. They put my head in a Little Bo Beep picture at universal studios, it was very strange. Yes, so I dyed my hair and now consequently my fingernails are stained black. Ew. The bathroom is also a mess and I should have cleaned it, since Gully was so kind as to wake up at 6am this morning and clean the entire living room, but suddenly I feel very tired. I'm also not sure about how I feel with my new hair. I'm wondering if maybe I should have done it after the Melbourne Cup, since both my hat and fascinator are black. On the other hand, maybe I will look Dark and Mysterious. On a completely unrelated note, the thing I like about my oldschool tables based layouts is the fact that they look the same on all browsers. Take this site for example - whether I'm viewing it in Camino, Safari, Firefox or IE, there are no discrepancies. If only it were that easy with CSS.

Eugh
We know how much I hate colds. I have one. So I am lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself and playing on my computer. I have been popping the Codral but as yet, it seems to be having no effect. Eugh. (<- Could also be a sneeze.) Ideally I would like to be playing around with this website, but I am lacking some vital information. I think I wrote it down, but I ebayed my old computer desk, which had to be dismantled. This means that everything is now on the floor, and I can't remember what I wrote these details on. Hopefully Oliver will feel sorry for me and email it. I have not got a new computer desk yet so my PC is currently homeless. Apparently the desk I wanted is smaller than it looks on brochures, and "is a bit wavy". I don't know what this means because I have not been able to look at it myself, but this is all a bit disappointing. When I am feeling better I will go to Officeworks myself.

The Hoff!
I know that I saw Lou Diamond Phillips on The Big Hit a few years ago, but at that stage I had not reaquainted myself with La Bamba, so it was not quite as exciting as seeing him on Numb3rs today. In fact, I was so excited I could only manage to breathlessly gasp Gully's name to shift his attention to the television (he was on the phone). It was like the plane had never crashed, and Richie Valens was still alive. It doesn't matter how many times I watch the movie, it doesn't matter that I know that he is going to get on that plane and the inevitable will happen, but dammit he was so close. So close. A much greater cause for excitement, however, is that David Hasselhoff is going to be on Rove Live tomorrow night. I can't wait. I* am going to set the recorder to tape it in the morning to ensure that I don't miss it. (*I = Gully). The Hoff! In other news, I got my PC fixed today (apparently the power supply and motherboard were both fucked, note to self: do not pull plug out of powerboard when computer is on), yesterday we cleaned the courtyard and have not thrown out the rubbish yet, and I am not allowed to get another fish because Gully thinks The Lone Ranger (aka Snoopy) will eat it. Which is probable because he can look Lake Placidly menacing at times. He might let me get a rabbit, though.

Channel 10
Oh my God. Law and Order, on Channel 10, who would have thought?! And yet I still feel compelled to watch it, like on the other three (or four, or maybe even five) nights of the week that it is on. I only like SVU, but I watch the rest anyway and regret it later. Channel 10 is like a cancer feeding on my energy and motivation by overdosing me on Law & Order, The Simpsons, Big Brother, and now Australian Idol. Seriously, I don't think they show anything else. Actually, Big Brother I don't mind so much anymore, but Idol is painful. So many ugly people concentrated in such a short timeslot. I'm not sure I can deal with it.

Achievement
Do you know what, I am extremely satisfied right now. - I am going to add a bullet, because I can.
- But I bought a laminator from the Officeworks stocktake sale last week. I have been laminating things, which is proving to be difficult because there aren't all that many things around here to laminate. I have to create lamination opportunities for myself. For example, we have laminated all the takeaway menus we frequently use so they don't get lost. Shut up. The laminator works silently, and is the coolest thing in the house right now.
- Coming second is the rubber stamp kit I bought. I now have a rubber stamp with my name, address and phone number on it. It even has a little phone symbol. This description does not do it justice, but it makes me want to send out lots of mail. I need people to send mail to.
- I also bought two pairs of snowboard pants from the discount ski sale which we happened past on Sunday. One is pink, and one is blue. I like them a lot.
- And yellow running shoes.
Evidently, I have nothing of great significance to say. This entry has been powered by editize. Thank you and have a nice day.
